The Senate Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges has unanimously approved amendments to Rule 209 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 2012, as reported by Business Recorder on February 4, 2026. The committee, chaired by Syed Waqar Mehdi, also addressed the issue of FIRs lodged against students of Quaid-e-Azam University. The Vice Chancellor informed the committee that applications for withdrawal of these FIRs are currently under process. The Chairman directed the SP City, Islamabad, to ensure these FIRs are quashed through the appropriate legal channels. Additionally, the committee reviewed a missing file case related to House No. 622, I-10/4, but deferred the agenda as the matter is sub judice.
