In response to a tragic fire incident at a hotel in Lahore's Gulberg area, which resulted in three fatalities and seven injuries, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has mandated the installation of fire hydrants in all commercial and high-rise buildings across the province within 30 days. This directive was announced during a provincial cabinet meeting broadcast live, as reported by Dawn. The chief minister emphasized the importance of operational safety equipment, stating, 'Make sure that all the safety equipment is functional as well.' Additionally, she ordered a freeze on fire hydrant prices for 90 days to prevent profiteering, as highlighted by Pakistan Today.
