The recent incident in Lahore, where a man was found chained at a police post, has sparked significant public outrage and prompted swift action from police authorities. According to Tribune Latest, a video surfaced showing Mukhtar Ahmed, a resident of Kiraka village, restrained with chains and tied to a charpoy at the Lakhoki police post. The footage, recorded three days prior to its release, led to the suspension of Sub-Inspector Adnan Virk, the in-charge of the post, and a show-cause notice was served to SHO Kahna Asad Abbas. DIG Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran emphasized that 'detaining a suspect at a police post is illegal,' and ordered a detailed report on the incident. The spokesperson for the DIG Operations highlighted that such actions are a 'clear violation of standard operating procedures.' Dawn corroborates these details, noting that Mukhtar had been held for four days without a formal charge, as no FIR had been lodged against him. Despite local residents' claims of his involvement in criminal activities, the police's actions were deemed unauthorized, leading to further investigations by the Kahna Circle assistant subinspector.
