In a significant update regarding public safety in Lahore, the Crime Control Department (CCD) has reported a substantial decline in crime rates across Punjab, particularly in Lahore, following special operations initiated in May 2024. The CCD's comparative analysis revealed that murder cases fell from 361 to 220, a 39% decrease, while attempted murders decreased by 38%, from 812 to 504. Notably, street crime incidents saw a staggering 78% reduction, with robbery incidents dropping from 35 to 15 and residential robberies plummeting from 33 to just 6. Despite these positive trends, the CCD reported that 19 police officers were killed and 167 injured during these operations, highlighting the risks involved in maintaining public safety.
