Ji Karachi Launches 'Jeene Do Karachi' Campaign For Civic Rights

On February 27, 2026, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi intensified its 'Jeene Do Karachi' campaign, aimed at addressing civic issues and criticizing the local government's legitimacy. JI Deputy Chief Pakistan, Dr. Osama Razi, condemned the current administration as a 'Form-47 government' and labeled the city’s mayor a 'fake mayor.' He stated, 'When people come out in protest, they will not recognize any so-called government “red lines,”' emphasizing the constitutional right to protest. The campaign highlights severe civic issues, with Razi noting that '47 percent of the population was living below the poverty line' and that nearly half of Karachi's residents lack access to clean water. The campaign's first protest convention was held in Karachi, with further events planned to mobilize citizens against what they perceive as the government's failure to address their needs.
