On February 21, 2026, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa successfully thwarted a potential terrorist attack by arresting a suspected female suicide bomber during a raid in the Sheikh Yousaf Khema Basti area of Dera Ismail Khan. The suspect, identified only by the initial 'Z', was reportedly a close aide to the deceased militant commander Shah Wali, also known as Tariq Kochi, associated with the banned group Fitna al Khawarij. Authorities disclosed that she confessed to receiving training from Kochi and revealed plans to carry out a suicide attack with the support of another commander named Asim, who was to provide her with a suicide vest and designate a target. The CTD recovered a 30-bore pistol, ammunition, two mobile phones, a tablet, and a perfume bottle allegedly intended to mask the smell of explosives from her possession.
