The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has successfully completed the selection process for candidates for its national space mission. According to Pakistan News Index, after a rigorous initial screening process, two candidates have been shortlisted to undergo a six-month intensive training program. This training is designed to prepare them physically, mentally, and technically for the demands of space travel. The final selection of one candidate to represent Pakistan in space is expected to occur in October or November. This mission is particularly historic as it will involve a Pakistani astronaut traveling to China's advanced space station, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan's space program and its scientific and defense collaborations with China. Notably, Pakistan and China formalized a bilateral space cooperation agreement in February 2025, under which Pakistan became the first foreign partner in China's astronaut program.
