The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has confirmed that roller-compacted concrete (RCC) operations for the Diamer-Basha Dam and Dasu Hydropower projects are set to commence this year, as highlighted during a recent site inspection by WAPDA Chairman retired Lt Gen Muhammad Saeed. He emphasized the urgency of adhering to implementation plans to ensure timely completion, noting that excavation work at the left abutment and dam pit is nearing completion. The chairman reported that successful trials for the RCC of the main dam have been conducted, with construction currently active at 20 sites for the Diamer-Basha Dam and 23 sites for the Dasu project. The completion of the Diamer-Basha Dam is anticipated by 2030, and the pouring of RCC for the main dam is expected to begin this year, according to Dawn on February 16, 2026.
