In a significant move aimed at enhancing road safety and improving the employability of drivers, the Sindh government has made pre-license driving training mandatory for all applicants seeking a driving license in the province. This decision was approved during the 50th meeting of the Public-Private Partnership Policy Board, chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. The initiative is expected to train and license 100,000 drivers over the next five years, with a target of 62,500 for Light Transport Vehicles (LTV) and 37,500 for Heavy Transport Vehicles (HTV). Chief Minister Shah stated, "We will provide young people with internationally standardized training to improve their chances of securing jobs abroad," highlighting the growing demand for skilled drivers in international markets like Europe and the GCC. The project will establish training schools across Sindh, with initial setups at four Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA) institutions, aiming to enhance the quality of training and licensing processes (ARY News, February 19, 2026).
