As Ramadan approaches, Pakistan is witnessing contrasting developments regarding food prices and availability. On one hand, the Punjab Food Authority has announced the launch of the first 'Ramadan Bachat Mela' from February 13 to 15 at Jilani Park, Lahore. According to Pakistan News Index, the event aims to provide essential commodities like flour, ghee, lentils, sugar, rice, fruits, and vegetables at discounted rates. The Director General of the Punjab Food Authority, Asim Javed, emphasized that 'food safety and high quality will be ensured' through strict monitoring of prices and supplies at the stalls. The mela will also feature cultural displays for entertainment, aiming to offer a blend of shopping and leisure for citizens.
