The Punjab government has recently launched a Rs3 billion initiative to deploy 30 advanced fog cannons mounted on electric trucks, aimed at combating severe smog and air pollution in major urban and industrial areas. This initiative is part of a broader Clean Air and Climate Resilient Strategy, which also includes a Rs2.25 billion allocation under the Lahore Air Improvement Framework. According to officials, the fog cannons will help reduce harmful particulate matter in the air, with the aim of significantly lowering pollution levels. The project is expected to enhance environmental protection measures, as stated by a government spokesperson: "The advanced fog cannon project will play a significant role in pollution-affected cities by lowering the concentration of hazardous particles in the air." Furthermore, over 50 modern air quality monitoring stations have already been installed across Punjab, with plans for a digital environmental monitoring system to oversee industrial emissions, showcasing a comprehensive approach to managing air quality in the province.
