On March 1, 2026, the Punjab government announced an expedited evacuation of illegal foreign nationals, particularly Afghan citizens, from the province. Punjab Home Secretary Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi and Inspector General of Police Abdul Kareem emphasized the need for a coordinated strategy to ensure immediate action. They stated, "Strict legal action will also be taken against those who provide shelter, employment, or business facilities to illegal residents."
