Punjab Cm Maryam Nawaz Approves Free Mortuary Van Service

On February 23, 2026, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif officially launched a free ambulance service for the transportation of deceased individuals, a pioneering initiative in the province. This service aims to assist bereaved families by providing free transportation from hospitals to homes and other cities when necessary. During a special meeting, the Chief Minister directed authorities to develop a comprehensive plan for dedicated vehicle services at major public hospitals and in every tehsil, ensuring at least one vehicle is available in each area. Families can access the service by calling 1122 or requesting it at hospital help counters, as emphasized by Emergency Services Secretary Dr. Rizwan Naseer. The initiative is designed to enhance efficiency and transparency through a smart management system, marking a significant step in public service delivery in Punjab.
