Pti Seeks Supreme Court Transfer Of Imran Khan For Eye Treatment

On February 25, 2026, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party filed a petition with the Supreme Court seeking the immediate transfer of its founder, Imran Khan, to a private hospital for urgent medical treatment. This comes amid growing concerns over Khan's deteriorating eye condition, which has reportedly led to a significant drop in vision to just 15% in his right eye. PTI lawyer Sardar Latif Khosa emphasized the need for Khan to receive treatment from his personal physicians, stating, "His advancing age and declining health are matters of grave concern not only for his family but for the people of Pakistan at large." The petition also highlighted that Khan has been in custody since August 2023, serving a sentence related to corruption charges, and faces additional trials under the Anti-Terrorism Act. Government officials, however, maintain that Khan is receiving appropriate medical care, with Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar asserting that a team of specialists has examined him and found no need for hospitalization unless ordered by the court.
