Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Directs Soe Privatisation Cases Submission

In a significant move to enhance the efficiency of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has mandated all federal ministries to expedite the submission of remaining SOE privatisation cases to the Cabinet Committee on State Owned Enterprises (CCoSOEs). This directive, communicated through a letter from Secretary of the Cabinet Kamran Ali Afzal, follows a cabinet meeting on February 4, 2026, which revealed that only 24 SOEs had been included in the Ministry of Privatisation’s programme for the years 2024-2029. The Prime Minister emphasized the urgency of this task, stating, "These cases are to be forwarded to the Privatisation Commission for inclusion in the privatisation programme," highlighting the government's commitment to its economic reform agenda and the need to complete pending privatisation processes swiftly.
