Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has embarked on a significant two-day official visit to Austria, marking the first visit by a Pakistani prime minister to the country in over three decades. The visit, which began on February 15, 2026, is at the invitation of Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker. According to Dawn, the visit is intended to "add new dimensions to the bilateral relations between the two countries" and coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Austria. The Prime Minister is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, as reported by ARY News. During the visit, PM Shehbaz will engage in bilateral talks with Chancellor Stocker, co-chair a meeting with prominent business leaders to enhance investment, and address the Pakistan-Austria Business Forum organized by the Austrian Economic Chamber (WKO). Additionally, he is scheduled to meet with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi, to discuss Pakistan's nuclear power program, which Grossi previously noted was advancing "at a good pace" (Dawn).
