Pakistan has recently secured a $3 million grant from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to enhance marine biodiversity conservation and sustainable fisheries management. This development, announced by the Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, is part of a project titled 'Conserving marine biodiversity by accelerating transition to sustainable and regenerative fisheries management practices.' The project will be executed by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs with support from the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination. According to Chaudhry, the funding is divided into $1.2 million for biodiversity interventions and $1.8 million for addressing land degradation linked to coastal and marine ecosystems (Profit by Pakistan Today, Business Recorder, ARY News).
