The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has successfully concluded its inaugural Bug Bounty Challenge 2026, with the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore securing first place. This nationwide initiative, launched in January 2026 under the 'Uraan Pakistan' initiative, aimed to enhance the cybersecurity of Pakistan's digital identity systems through responsible vulnerability detection. A total of 27 teams, comprising 88 participants from various universities, competed in this challenge, which was organized in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan Digital Authority, and the National Cyber Emergency Response Team (PKCERT). The final ceremony at NADRA Headquarters recognized UET Lahore for its exceptional technical skills, while the Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology won second prize, highlighting the event's success in fostering cybersecurity talent across the nation. Dr. Monis Akhlaq, NADRA's Chief Information Security Officer, stated, "Beyond awards, the challenge built confidence and capability. It encouraged a shared sense of national responsibility among emerging cybersecurity professionals." Additionally, teams from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro and International Islamic University Islamabad received consolation prizes for their commendable performances.
