Karachi Customs Issues New Valuation For Industrial Chemicals

On February 27, 2026, the Directorate General of Customs Valuation in Karachi issued new customs values for various imported goods, including industrial chemicals and disposable aluminum food containers. The updated customs values for 16 types of industrial chemicals, as per Valuation Ruling No. 2051, were revised after a comprehensive review of international market conditions and import data, which had not been updated in nearly five years. The ruling aims to prevent under-invoicing and ensure that customs assessments reflect current market conditions. The chemicals affected include Boric Acid, Aluminum Oxide, and Chromic Acid, among others. The Directorate emphasized that these values serve as minimum benchmark prices, stating, "If imported consignments declare higher invoice values, customs assessment will be made based on the higher value." This ruling follows the High Court’s order from December 10, 2025, and will remain effective until further notice (Business Recorder, 2026).
