The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is prioritizing the expansion of its digital agricultural lending platform, Zarkheze, to enhance credit access for small farmers and underserved areas. During a meeting of the Agricultural Credit Advisory Committee (ACAC) in Karachi, SBP Governor Jameel Ahmad emphasized the need to scale up Zarkheze as a core delivery channel for agricultural finance. This initiative aims to make small-ticket lending commercially viable and expand outreach beyond traditional high-volume regions. Ahmad highlighted that the platform facilitates digital onboarding of farmers, standardized credit assessment, and integration with land and crop data, ensuring loans are used for quality inputs through an integrated vendor network (Profit by Pakistan Today, ProPakistani).
