The recent Spring Tree Plantation Campaign 2026, launched by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Islamabad, aims to plant one million trees across the federal capital. This initiative, inaugurated by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, marks a significant step towards enhancing environmental sustainability. Randhawa emphasized the use of modern technology, stating, "For the first time in Islamabad’s history, modern technology is being used in a plantation campaign through a digital tree census," which includes affixing QR codes to trees for better monitoring. The campaign not only focuses on planting local, fruit-bearing, and shade-providing trees but also aims to engage the community, particularly journalists, in environmental advocacy. President of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists, Afzal Butt, expressed support for the initiative, urging journalists to make tree plantation a social trend.
