In a significant development, an inter-state gang involved in the forgery of postal stamps in India has been dismantled by the Mumbai police, as reported by Qaumi Awaz Stories. The operation led to the arrest of five individuals and the seizure of counterfeit stamps valued at 27,84,200 INR. The investigation, which began with a complaint from Mumbai GPO's postal inspector Ashutosh Jamdar Singh Kumar in September 2025, revealed that the gang was producing and distributing fake stamps across various states. The police uncovered suspicious transactions amounting to 7-8 crore INR in the suspects' bank accounts, indicating the scale of the operation. The arrested individuals include Rakesh Band from Mumbai, Shamsuddin Ghafar and Shahid Raza from Bihar, Mohammad Shahabuddin Sheikh from Delhi, and Virendra Prasad from Ghaziabad. The police are continuing their investigation to apprehend other members and the mastermind of the operation, who remains at large.
