The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has recently resolved a significant backlog of tax cases, unlocking approximately Rs506 billion in disputed revenue, as reported by both Profit by Pakistan Today and ProPakistani. According to the IHC Annual Report 2025-26, the court managed to clear 788 tax and revenue cases from April 1, 2025, to February 4, 2026. This decisive action has enabled the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to proceed with the collection of these previously blocked funds. The prolonged litigation had been a substantial barrier to fiscal stability and economic activity, as noted by both sources. The formation of specialised division benches, as part of judicial reforms, was pivotal in this achievement. "The bench led by Justice Azam Khan and Justice Minhas decided 178 cases involving around Rs456.18 billion," Profit by Pakistan Today highlighted, while the remaining cases were handled by other benches, covering more than Rs49.9 billion.
