In the wake of a recent terrorist attack at an Imambargah during Friday prayers, the Pakistani government has implemented new security measures to enhance safety in Islamabad. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry announced these fresh standard operating procedures (SOPs) during a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior, emphasizing the need for heightened security to prevent further incidents. He stated, "New security directives had been introduced in the wake of the attack to prevent any untoward incidents in Islamabad." This comes amidst ongoing concerns about terrorism in the country, with Chaudhry also addressing issues surrounding protests organized by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP), where he alleged that armed individuals were escorted to the Parliament Lodges, undermining parliamentary sanctity.
