On February 16, 2026, a devastating motorcycle bomb explosion occurred near the Miryan Police Station in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the deaths of at least two individuals, including a child, and injuring 17 others. The blast was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted on a motorcycle parked outside shops near the police station. The bomb disposal squad reported that seven to eight kilograms of explosive material were used in the blast. Following the incident, police and security forces cordoned off the area, collected evidence, and launched a search operation. Bannu Deputy Inspector General Sajjad Khan confirmed that police personnel at the site were unharmed, stating, "The police personnel remained safe in the blast, and the building of the police station did not sustain damage."
