Dubai has officially launched its autonomous RT6 taxi service, a significant advancement in the emirate's smart mobility strategy. The launch was inaugurated by Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who traveled in one of the driverless taxis to the World Governments Summit. As reported by ProPakistani, the RT6 taxis, developed by Baidu Apollo Go, are equipped with over 40 advanced sensors, including high-precision LiDAR and multi-band radars, allowing them to navigate city roads safely and interact with pedestrians and other vehicles. The vehicles utilize real-time data, high-definition maps, and deep-learning algorithms to make autonomous driving decisions. The service is set to roll out to the public in the first quarter of 2026, with plans to expand the fleet to over 1,000 vehicles, according to NDTV.
