As Ramadan approaches, Dubai Police have finalized preparations to continue the cherished tradition of firing cannons to announce the sighting of the holy month's crescent and the daily iftar time. The main cannon will be located in the Nazwa area, with six additional sites across the city, including prominent locations such as Burj Khalifa and Jumeirah Beach Residence. Each cannon will fire a total of 35 rounds throughout Ramadan and Eid, with specific rounds designated for the crescent sighting and iftar announcements. According to Gulf News, 'Dubai Police has upheld this practice for more than six decades, marking iftar timings and sharing in the joy of fasting residents.' This initiative not only preserves cultural heritage but also enhances community engagement during the holy month.
