Dr. Yasmin Rashid Appeals Supreme Court Verdict Against Nawaz Sharif

In a significant legal development, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, a leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, has formally approached the Supreme Court to contest the electoral victory of Nawaz Sharif in Lahore's NA-130 constituency during the 2024 general elections. This appeal was filed after the election tribunal dismissed her previous claims of electoral fraud on December 30, 2025. Dr. Rashid asserts that she received 99,428 votes compared to Sharif's 78,533, indicating a margin of 20,895 votes in her favor based on results from 334 out of 376 polling stations. However, she alleges that the election process was compromised by the illegal replacement of the returning officer (RO) and interference from unidentified individuals during the results consolidation process, which she claims violated constitutional requirements for electoral transparency.
