On February 16, 2026, the first Overseas Kashmiris Convention was inaugurated in Muzaffarabad, aimed at integrating overseas Kashmiris into the development of Azad Kashmir. Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, emphasized the significance of this event, stating that it is a 'game changer' for the region's economic development. The convention is designed to encourage investment from overseas Kashmiris in sectors such as IT and tourism, with the introduction of a special package of incentives for overseas Pakistanis. Additionally, the government plans to establish special courts and a web portal to address the issues faced by overseas Kashmiris, highlighting a proactive approach to governance. Hundreds of Kashmiri delegations and investors participated in the event, which was marked by a historic welcome at Kohala. According to Hum News, 'Panel discussions and policy dialogues will take place, leading to comprehensive policy recommendations.'
