The most recent development in Pakistan's crackdown on illegal foreign exchange operations was revealed in a session of the National Assembly, where the Ministry of Interior detailed intensified efforts by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) against hawala-hundi networks. According to Profit by Pakistan Today, since January 2025, the FIA has conducted 551 raids, registered 576 cases, arrested 703 individuals, and secured 324 convictions. The ministry emphasized that while smuggling is primarily under the jurisdiction of Pakistan Customs, FIA personnel at immigration checkpoints are also actively involved in monitoring illegal currency activities.
